Emphasis on the British context

The Sensation System has been developing over the course of many years. It has evolved considerably, and continues to do so, gradually going further and deeper into an understanding of health and disease. One key aspect of this System is the idea of a Vital Sensation, an experience that each person has from which their pathology – physical, mental and emotional – arises. At the heart of the Sensation System is the search for this Vital Sensation in each patient, and a journey to discover what this sensation corresponds to in terms of a substance in nature – animal, plant or mineral – which will be the remedy that this person needs.

It is often suggested that the Sensation System works in India because patients there are more open to this particular method of questioning. However, what a Homeopath is trying to do is to understand the fundamental disturbance at the core of a patient, which the Vital Sensation represents. This is a universal phenomenon, which transcends language and regional differences. However, where cultural differences are important is in the process of getting to this phenomenon.

To access the Vital Sensation we need to adopt case taking methods that are sensitive and appropriate to the cultural setting, and this is where the Aroga Course is particularly helpful. For example, a common experience has been for people to adopt the style of questioning used in India, which has not always been well received by patients here. However, through extensive use of videos featuring UK patients, we will demonstrate that whilst the final destination is the same in all cases, the route will be noticeably different.
